Video: History of Homecoming Mums presented by Amy Schultz & the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission

Throughout the year, the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission hosts a series of free virtual events that bring alive real stories of the people and places of Texas. This series includes talks by authors and journalists, demonstrations, presentations by experts in the field of preservation, and more.

On August 27, the Friends hosted MUMENTOUS author and “mumologist” Amy J. Schultz for a virtual talk about the evolution of homecoming mums entitled, All the Bells and Whistles: How Texas Women Turned Homecoming Mums into a Lone Star Phenomenon. Now the presentation is available on YouTube!
